Mysterious Tree Poisonings Haunt Lake Tahoe's Wealthy Enclave The lakeside community of Incline Village, nestled in the Sierra Nevada mountains on the California Nevada border, has been shaken by a series of deliberate tree poisonings.
At least 30 pine trees, some over a century old, have been poisoned at Burnt Cedar beach, causing an estimated $300,000 in losses. The scale of this ecological crime is staggering, but it's part of a larger pattern.
The use of substances to poison trees has occurred before: six were damaged in 2022 and another six in 2024. This year alone, 16 more have been targeted.
