Firefighters are struggling to contain wildfires that have ravaged the Gironde region, forcing residents to brace for another sizzling heatwave that threatens to bring temperatures soaring up to 40C by Wednesday.
Four firefighters have been killed in recent weeks, and nearly 2,000 personnel have been deployed to battle the flames.
